Report on February 2007 activities

Hello again Wingers

Well the weather is definitely not getting any better and as I write the rain is trying to smash its way in through my window with the tapping keeping pace with my typing. This has been a pretty Wing free month for Loopy and myself as work commitments and problems elsewhere sapped our enthusiasm to spend the few free hours we get freezing in the garage to sort the bikes. Those of us who did use our bikes such as the intrepid Ed certainly deserve our admiration and I am sure most others were preparing their bikes or simply dreaming of the long hot summer yet to come.

This month started off with our monthly meeting on the 4th at the Beaufort where 19 of our members attended. It was then announced that our resident superstar Golly would once again be appearing on our small screens and we are sure that those of you who have been watching the series `Bonkers' this month will of course have seen her popping up in various episodes. While we are on the subject of our rising star's career it was also mentioned that Golly should soon be appearing in a series depicting the life of the young Wayne Rooney ... we may soon have to get a 'Star' to hang on her tent flap.

As the idea of our own club banner had remained just that, Christine volunteered to take over the development and production of one that could be used to announce the presence of NWW at future events without having to rely on our mad antics to do it for us, and so by the time you read this we should be able to show it with pride.

On the subject of the banner and its production, it was discovered that there are two ways to produce one. The first is the 'weave' as demonstrated by Jan by waving her hands in a`rocking' motion and 'embroidery' as demonstrated by Joanna by 'shaking' one hand from side to side, proving our meetings really are very educational and informative as well as fun.

On the 17th Kath & Stu held the Mid Month Social which, true to form, was a great success with a relaxed evening of food, wine, chat, and a game of trivial pursuit where I am led to believe the girls truly thrashed the boys yet again. Yes you guessed, we were unable to attend ourselves so missed out on the fun and food ... not fair! Thanks once again are sent to Kath and Stu for a very successful first social.

As the weather continued to show no signs of getting better, Loopy and I spent our spare time sorting our house that included installing a jacuzzi and shower so instead of being cold and wet outdoors we were warm and wet indoors. With low lights and a bottle of wine ... no better way to spend cold winter evenings.

As there are no birthdays or anniversaries this month (unless people are just too shy to tell me about them), I close with a couple of announcements of up and coming events. First there is the Wirral Egg Run that is to be held on 1 April (pinch, punch, white rabbits etc.,) and the Belgian Treffen, which hopefully Loopy and I will be attending to get our season off to a swing. Of course both of these items are advertised on our website so check it out for these and more items of information and fun.

Cheers ...... MARK
