Report on January 2006 activities

Hi Folks,

Very short report this month as there is very little to tell you. There have been no organised runs for the members of NWW and the weather has been such as to spoil any spontaneous rides. We did hold our midmonth social at Ed and Q’s home and a great evening was had by all who attended.

The only bright bit of the month has been a purchase by our esteemed rep, Ed. He has lost his marbles and bought a brand new bike. The side pannier covers for his wing are more expensive to buy than this bike but he loves it. It is a Royal Enfield Bullet. Completely the opposite to his Wing in every way. The Wing is comfortable, fast, smooth, has brakes, reliable and very expensive. The Bullet is the opposite, especially if you have a contact that flies around the world, particularly to India, where accessories for the Bullet are pennies. (Stevie is so accommodating when it comes to getting bike bits for anyone).

Nigel and I actually managed to get the wings out for a bit of a ride, though it was a rather slow run. We went with Ed to collect his new bike and to accompany him back, at the running-in maximum of 30 mph, from Colwyn Bay! It was a longish day and very cold as well!

I have been asked to mention that from April to September inclusive the regional members have agreed to change the monthly meeting day and time to the first Tuesday evening of the month, at 8pm at the Beaufort. This is being done to ensure that those who attend Wing Dings do not miss all the meetings and to give us a full Sunday for runs instead of spoiling a good riding day with a meeting at lunch-time. It is hoped that the members will make every effort to attend.

For those of you with internet access, please check out the NWW web-site. Nigel has been busy and sorted out a few things, one being the Events Page, which is now in a much handier form than previous. He has also given me the task and responsibility of updating it and keeping it accurate. It is user friendly and gives different view so that you can use the best one for you. Please also check out the other pages as Nigel is constantly tweaking and changing items on the pages, but nobody seems to notice.

That is all I can report this month as there is no further news.

Keep the shiny bits up
