Report on July 2006 activities
Hi Folks,
It has been warm month weather wise and some fine riding has been done by members of the region. Jan and I started off with a week touring in Scotland, based in Fort William and the only comment I will make is that the roads are meant to be ridden by motorcycles, and the locals are very friendly. I want to go back for another week already.
Members visited the Stars and Stripes Weekend at Tatton Park, where they met up with L&L members, who were out in force, having a camping weekend at the event.
The following weekend a ride-out to Lake Vyrnwy was organised by Peter and Joy, accompanied by their daughter, Nikki, which was enjoyed by Stuart and Kath, and Nigel and Joanna. It was one of those rare occasions when the Mackintoshes wore waterproofs again.
This month also saw the loss of a Goldwinger, Fred Robinson, who was accompanied on his final ride by five Wings at a respectable pace, which left many of the following cars unable to keep up (On a dual carriageway!!). The family were pleased to see his last journey went in such a grand style as that is what he would have wanted. Thanks to Eddy, the rep, for organising it.
Mark and Loopy hosted the mid-month social and it was great evening with pot-luck eating and the menagerie of pets, to keep us entertained.
I look forward to revisiting them again when they host another social. Mark proudly showed us their collection of motorcycles which they keep in a garage and a half.
It appears that Loopy has at long last found the Goldwing that she feels she can ride without toppling over as they are usually too tall for her. When she passes her test Mark will have to find one just like this for her.
Finally there was a Ride-out to Bangor Rugby Club to present a cheque to CLIC Sergant, the Children with Cancer Charity. This was the charity supported by NWW members and visitors to our Wing Ding and we were able to present a cheque for £500.00 to the President of Bangor Rugby Club who received it on behalf of the charity.
On this ride-out we were accompanied by Cheshire and Merseyside Wings, who made up the numbers nicely for the event. Thanks go to them for their company (and numbers) to the presentation.
Finally, a reminder that the monthly meetings return to 12 midday on the first Sunday of the month from the first Sunday in October.
That’s all again folks until next month
Keep the shiny bits up
