Report on March 2006 activities

Hi folks,

A few events to report this month, it is obvious that the Wings are coming out of hibernation.

The month started with Ed and Anne G taking their Wings for the M.O.T. and in Ed’s words (so he gets the blame!)….. “And while Ann's bike was on the weighing scales it broke the scales and she said quite innocently "oh my handbag is in the pannier",”

Nice one, Ed, for telling us!

This was followed with a run to Bangor to the Rugby club to check on some items for the Wing Ding with Ed, Anne G. and David G, Nigel, Allen, Stevie C-D and myself, where we met up with Steve and Jacqui Parry with their daughter.  The run started with a trip over the Denbigh Moors, one of our favorite routes, then up the A5 to Bangor. It was a lovely cool day, especially with snow still around.

On Saturday 25th sixteen NWW members and 4 wing nuts attended Cheshire and Merseyside Region’s Quiz Night where we had a great evening and the Host Region managed to raise a good sum for charity. The quiz was very hard indeed and some serious scratching of the head took place on most of the questions. It was nice to see Pennine Region represented as well.

The following day I met up with members from Lancs and Lakes and we rode to Stoke on Trent for the Egg Run. Mark and Laurie met up with us there. It was an excellent run which was well marshaled and well supported by the local populace. It was the first time I have taken part in that run but it hopefully will not be the last.

The following weekend has seen Stevie and Colette take part in the banned Wirral Egg Run, which attracted 2000 plus bikes and went off without incident and without police attendance. The local press was supportive of the event and wrote good articles about it.

Ed did not attend the Wirral Egg Run as he was riding his Wing to Gloucester to attend the National Bikesafe launch. He reported the trip as a great ride. He also reported that there were quite a few Wings at the launch, which is very good news indeed.

Stevie has enough troubles these days. Not only does he have to take his wife to work with him, in this case to Barbados, but she is also learning to ride a motorcycle so that she can take his bike out when he is away. And to this end she has taken and passed her theory test with top marks. Well done Colette!!!

And while we are mentioning her, Colette is going to go for a bit of a swim to raise some money for Muscular Dystrophy. She is doing it in style though. Not with dolphins which is old hat. No! Colette is doing her swim with sharks at the Blue Planet Aquarium. Gosh! I do feel sorry for the sharks if they misbehave. They won’t know what hits them!!!!

Anyway Folks, that’s all for this month.

Keep the shiny bits up
